An
amazing thing about Tanturi's music with Enrique Campos as singer: if you just listen to it at
home, it may not sound that remarkable ... but put it on at night at a
Milonga, and velvet gloves massage your soul.
(Personally, I wish the plethora of singers who over-do their emotional commitment to tango singing in an almost tragi-comic way - including many maudlin men in bow-ties and smiles/fake tears on stage today - would study Castillo and Campos more closely in order to understand what singing really is. Their power came from heart and intelligence, not pretense to being a heart-throb or a new Gardel).
At one time, some record exec had the brilliant idea of adding reverb to Tanturi recoprdings. Ugh. You can hear it on this Oigo Tu Voz.
Here is my version.
Same with Noches De Colon (and many other tracks).
Noches De Colon by Keith.
Tanturi recorded many great Vals and Milongas as well as his distinctive Tangos. Ricardo's best-known compositions: "Mozo Guapo," "Ese Sos Vos."
There are 3 ToTANGO CD's of Ricardo Tanturi Restorations.
