One of the premier pianists and arrangers of the early recording era, Francisco played for a time with his friend Canaro (and collaborated with him in forming SADAIC).
His first major hit as a composer came in 1918 with Muñequita. His next was Si Soy Asi. He formed his own orchestra in 1923 and recorded from then until his death in 1950. One musician who played for him was Leopoldo Schifrin, father of "Mission Impossible" theme composer, Lalo.
Lomuto and Canaro represented the cream of the crop for high society for a long time. Although they didn't have a sound that was close to each other, they both liked to employ clarinets and "non-traditional" instrumentation. But they sure played tango tango. And great vals and milonga.
There are 34 tracks of Francisco Lomuto ToTANGO Restorations.
